How to Export an HTML Table to CSV
Selecting a table with the mouse and pasting it into a spreadsheet usually ends badly: merged cells collapse, rows you cannot see on screen come along anyway, and everything lands in a single column. Here is the short way.
Steps
- Open the page that has the table on it.
- Click the Table Export icon in the toolbar. Every data table on the page is listed with its size and a small preview.
- Hover an entry — the matching table is outlined on the page, so you can tell several apart. Or press Pick on page and click the table directly (
Esc cancels).
- Choose CSV as the format.
- Press Save. To paste somewhere instead of saving, choose Clipboard — the columns stay intact in Google Sheets, Excel or Numbers.
Things worth knowing before you start
- Cells spanning several columns or rows are repeated into each position they cover, so columns stay aligned. Tick Leave merged cells blank if you would rather have them empty.
- Rows hidden on screen are left out on purpose, and the popup reports how many.
- Tables used purely for page layout — notice boxes, sidebars, navigation — are kept out of the list, and that count is shown too.
- Some large grids keep only the rows you can currently see inside the page and swap them as you scroll. Only those rows exist to be read. The popup warns you when it sees this; scroll through the table first, or export in sections.
- The browser blocks every extension on
chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store and the built-in PDF viewer. The popup tells you when you are on one.
CSV export, clipboard copy and the merged-cell handling are free, with no row limit and no account.
